A brand new business
banking experience

Asociación Popular de Ahorros y Préstamos has been leading the market since 1962. For the last few years, they've been focused on expanding their digital services.

Before this project, they only had a personal banking app, but a big portion of their clients are businesses that required more specialized tools. With Móvil Empresas APAP, the goal was to recreate the easy experience of personal banking within the complexity of the business sector.

Feature mapping

Feature mapping

I mapped out the app's infrastructure based on initial requirements, separating the envisioned features into sections. This allowed us to pinpoint what needed to be worked on first, in order to lay the groundwork for future releases.

Based on the MVP scope, we defined our key sections to be Login & Onboarding, Product Management, and Transactions.

Section flowchart

Section flowchart

With the big picture approved, I moved on to creating detailed flowcharts of each section. This allowed us figure out the complexity of each flow on paper first, validating with the client that it met all of the criteria.

These charts then served as a guideline for wireframing, reducing the amount of back and forth with the client, since the flow had already been approved beforehand.

Individuality in a shared space

Unlike with personal banking, business accounts are shared between multiple users and have a long list of products and transactions that are used in their day to day.

Our main challenge was to design the app in a way that each individual user could feel like a simple, personal banking experience, while still having their actions be connected and visible to the larger whole of the business account.

Bringing it to life

The visual design for the app had to be based on our client's brand brief, but we wanted to separate it from their other products to deliver a distinct feeling for this new userbase.

We moved away from their usual light palette, focusing instead on dark tones and black backgrounds to create a sleek and professional feel for businesses, using APAP's signature yellow as an accent color to tie it in with the rest of their products.

Final and MVP deliverables

Although the first release was only MVP, we designed the features with their final version in mind.

For each deliverable, we created a simplified version and outlined the differences between final and MVP.
